Six transnational projects have been selected to receive a total of €14.1 million in funding under the call ‘Piloting a Skills Guarantee for Workers in Transition. This initiative aims to help workers affected by transformation in the automotive sector and related supply chains move into sustainable employment in strategic and growing industries.

The selected projects were chosen from 13 applications and will be coordinated by organisations from Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland, and Romania. Together, they bring in 45 organisations across 10 EU Member States, including public authorities, employment services, education and training providers, companies, and other stakeholders.

The projects will test innovative Skills Guarantee mechanisms designed to support workers facing industrial restructuring by providing new training opportunities and pathways into sectors experiencing skills shortages. The average grant requested per project is approximately €2.3 million, reflecting the scale and ambition to help shape the future of European Skills Guarantee.

The initiatives focus on key areas linked to Europe’s strategic and growing sectors, including clean transition and digitalisation, logistics and technical services, smart infrastructure, energy, defence, skilled trades, care services, energy efficiency, circular economy, and waste recycling.

Through cross-border cooperation, the projects that will run for 24 months aim to ensure that workers can successfully adapt to economic change while contributing to Europe’s sustainable and competitive future.

As Executive Vice-President Roxana Mînzatu said:

‘Skills open the door to jobs, stability and new opportunities. With the signature of these six pilot projects, we are starting concrete work to provide targeted support to people, so that they can build their future in a changing economy. This is an important step towards making the future European Skills Guarantee a reality, ensuring that Europe’s green and digital transitions are fair and inclusive.’
